dB Dialogue 03/26/2008
This Week - Brent Doerner

Sorry for the delay in our updates – it’s my fault – I get into “music land” and forget about everything else around me. We just want to bring a really good project to your eyes and ears, and we feel we’ve done that here. It’s very rewarding. Be patient, we’re almost there.

We’re now about ¾ done recording the overdubs on the 18 bed tracks we put down. Andy Charel is setting up our mixes in Toronto – and hopefully in 3 or 4 weeks, we’ll have 18 tunes to master.
Never Turn Yer Back
I’ve been busy learning video editing software, and of course – doing lots of video editing when I’m not writing and recording. It’s a huge learning curve, and between doing recording and video editing, there’s no time left for much else. Our plan is to have videos available to view – of all the new songs - on this website – when this cd is done. Our webmaster guru – Ron Kingyens – will help us out when they’re ready.

Decibel is looking a for a male lead singer/bass player. That is – a bass player that can lead sing. If you are interested, or know someone who is interested – please contact us through this site.

That’s all for now!

Letters
Hi Brent
Got your CD the other day through CD baby. Most impressed. I have been a huge fan of yours since...well since Helix was playing the bars in Windsor back in the late 70's early 80's. My buddy and I spent many hours and countless days listening to you blow the room away. I still have the Breaking Loose and White Lace & Black Leather albums which I still throw on my old turntable. They are pretty worn out but I still love to give them a listen. Thanks for the wonder music.

Mike Gurniak

Thanks Mike -for your kind words. I’m still close friends with my old pal -Brian Vollmer of Helix – he helps us out whenever he can! So glad you like the tunes – spread the word!

Brent

Here's a blast from the past. Try these clues.
1. We first met at the Sherwood Forrest Inn in Trenton. ON. in the mid 70's
2. I have poster which shows a picture of a girl you knew holding your Flying V. She's not wearing clothes.
3. It has a personalized note on it from you that starts out with my first and last name. In the middle in brackets it says (Oil-Man).
4. You stated you were selling the posters for a buck, but for me it was free. Also "I heard about the fire".
5. It lists dates you were playing for April, May, June, July and August. Mostly three nighters.
6. Your P.S. says thanks for the puffs (actually show two clouds of smoke).
7. My favorite Helix songs at the time was a cover of UFO's “Doctor-Doctor”.
Fire in the Bedroom
A Body for You
8. You had supper at my place in Belleville and we cured Brian's headache to Tiger Balm.
9. It's possible we have not crossed paths in over 20 years.

Okay, if you answer this email I will remind you of my last name as you can see my first name in part of my email address and no it's not cogeco.ca Ha!

Sure hope to hear from you, we have a lot of catching up to do and there's still a tear in this old eye with Paul's Hackman’s name on it. I listened to some of the Decibel tunes on your web site and it almost brought tears to my eyes. Real music, what a treat. I'm looking forward to some tour dates so we can get out to hear it in person.

'Til Later
P.S. I've booked marked Brent Doerner's Decibel web site and will certainly be bringing my family to see a show as soon as there is one.

Wow! It’s amazing who comes out of the woodwork after all these years! Great to hear you like the tunes – tell everybody, spread the word!

To Shane:
Dude! I want to hook up, actually I was playing the first album on Saturday and just rocking out to it big time. It still sounds great. I absolutely want to hear the new tunes, see the videos, whatever! I was wondering what was going to happen to the band after Brian got sick but he seems to be recovering from what I've read. I'm just glad you and Brent are still kicking.

Mike Ladano

We’re still kickin’ all right – we’re gonna kick yer ass with this new cd! Stay tuned.
