Brent Doerner
Guitar - Lead Vocals
Not just every guitar slinger out there can claim to be a part of a Canadian rock institution. Brent Doerner can: He spent over 15 years in Helix playing guitar, writing, singing, blowing minds and winning fans the world over. He has the battle scars and the gold and platinum records to prove it, but that's not the end of the story. A new chapter has begun with Decibel...
As the dynamic lead guitarist of Helix, Brent played a key role in forging the sound of the biggest metal band in Canadian history. If you attended a Helix show your eyes were constantly on the on-stage antics of lead vocalist Brian Vollmer or "The Doctor" Brent Doerner. |

During an 80's Helix tour with Heart, Eddie and Alex Van Halen dropped in to the show upon occasion. One night during Brent's guitar solo, the virtuoso had Eddie Van Halen sneak on stage to play along with him note for note! Just a few years before, Brent was learning Eddie's moves note for note.
After years of touring and recording with Helix, Brent departed to take a break from the grinding schedule of the hardest working band in Canada.
He spent time exploring different genres of music and widening his already expansive range of guitar styles. Brent also performed with bands such as Cadillac Cowboys. Over the years Brent returned to the studio from time to time to record with Helix and made an occasional rare guest appearance with them most notably the Helix 30th Anniversary Concert. Brent was magnetic from the time he took the stage! As Brian Vollmer stated "he didn't miss a beat, it was as if he never left..." |
